Something Iāve been thinking about and noticing⦠Generative AI might actually help us become more present and better listeners. Tools like ChatGPT are patient. They donāt interrupt. They donāt look down at a phone and lose focus. They can be overly supportive (if trained this way). They acknowledge each word, respond thoughtfully, and stick with the conversation for as long as it takes. That kind of āpresenceā is rare in real life. Iāve heard many joke that ChatGPT is their new therapist. Thatās quite a statement! When these tools are used with a little self-awareness, maybe the tools can help us reflect on how we show up in conversations. Are we really listening? Are we being thoughtful? Are we making people feel heard and responding comprehensively? AI canāt replace human connection. But it can remind us all what being fully present and engaged looks like in fast world filled with distractions. #Leadership #EmotionalIntelligence #FutureOfWork #AIandHumanity

Over the last 6 to 9 months, Iāve had the chance to speak with 20+ people analytics professionals. Their work is exciting and likely more impactful than they realize. Theyāre supporting sales, finance, product, HR, operations... you name it. Theyāre certainly managing HR reporting and analysis work, but theyāre also leveraging AI to work faster, solving real business problems, and consulting across many functions. To me, itās becoming clearer that people analytics professionals arenāt just behind-the-scenes analysts or ādata peopleā anymore. Theyāre increasingly strategic, build partnerships, and often seem to balance evidence-based thinking with natural human intuition. It reminds me of one of my prior organizations where we had a VP of digital analytics transition into an SVP of digital and customer experience role, and he absolutely crushed it! The marketing team transformed and was testing & learning non-stop. When I think about the future of HR and who will add tremendous value, I canāt help but see people analytics professionals stepping into more strategic roles and challenges. If youāve been in people analytics for a while and are wondering whatās next... consider exploring other areas of HR where you can leverage your analytics expertise as a foundation, then work in an execution role to drive business results in areas like L&D, Total Rewards, Talent Management, Org Design and Effectiveness, HRIS, etc. I believe there are many PA folks who have sharp skills and are ready to pivot and take that leap if theyāre interested. Be mindful not to outsource all your thinking to AI. Want to land your dream job? Be authentic. Donāt let AI script you. Speaking on a panel? Skip the 'perfect' AI-crafted answers. Remember your real voice matters. Guest on a podcast? Share YOUR story in YOUR words. This is what excites listeners. Need an executive coach? AI can support, but human experience is irreplaceable. If we rely too much on AI and it shapes our micro-experiences, do we risk losing what makes us unique? The detours, the struggles, the unscripted moments⦠sometimes thatās the good stuff. True human originality may be one of the most valuable traits moving forward. In fact, sometimes I miss seeing a typo or two throughout the day. Let's remember to stay human along the journey, folks.
