Had the pleasure of doing a #FinancialPlanning session at Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) today under the Aegis of the SEBI Library Book Club. I was called in to address as I have authored the book - If God was your Financial Planner. Thank you very much Jeny John for arranging the session. We had Shashi Kumar , Executive Director DEPA also in the session. The session went wonderfully well and there was lots of interactions! Trust this was useful for all those who attended online and at the venue. Thanks to my colleague Janaki Bhuta, Ladder7 Wealth Planners who was in the session and clicked these pics!

After a very long time, I had gone to the studios of ET Now. They had invited me for a session recording on Retirement planning for a series called Smart Nivesh Sahi Nivesh, which I did with Kavita Thapliyal, Senior News Editor & anchor at ET Now. I had done so many online sessions with Kavita but this was the first time I was meeting her in person! It turned out to be a good outing. The other panelist was my friend Dilshad Billimoria (Certified Financial Planner), who joined online from Bengaluru. The session went well after some initial technical issues. I also recorded a Breaking Myths session with Sumiit Lakhutia, Senior News Editor Times Network. Sumiit Lakhutia had read my book on Kindle and was favourably disposed towards the content and the story format. I presented a signed copy of the book to both Sumiit Lakhutia and Kavita Thapliyal, after extracting the promise that they will go through the book! Though it takes some effort to go to the studio, there is a certain gravitas when we record the session at the studios! It has been 20 years since we started providing Financial Advice at Ladder7! We have been a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) with SEBI since 2013, but have been practising as a financial advisor from 2004! I still remember the day when I received the very first mandate from the client to prepare a financial plan. While I was very happy about it, I was flummoxed too! I did not know how to proceed making that plan! There was no one to turn to in those days. I thought about it for three days and came up with some rudimentary workout, which was the shaky start on which I built my Financial Planning career!!! After that, it had been better days… I got better with my knowledge and skills and was able to grasp the craft of financial advice and plan creation. The plan and the advice to the clients got better with time. It is generally believed that collecting a fee is very difficult when it comes to financial advice. I did not find that to be true. I found that clients are willing to pay a fee if they see value in the engagement and advice. After all this time, I have a team of advisors and together we are offering #Fiduciary, #ClientCentric advice that helps clients meet their goals, gain financial freedom and create wealth. We are having many longstanding clients, some of them coming from the very beginning itself! We are truly grateful to all our clients who have been the raison d’etre of our existence. They have made us who we are. Apart from the clients, we are thankful and grateful to my industry peers, Financial services fraternity, family, friends, partners etc. who have all contributed to our success. We dedicate whatever success we have achieved to them all! It is 2 years since my book - If God was your financial planner (http://amzn.to/2JTNcvy) was released. It has been received very well; reviews on Amazon says it all! The book continues to attract attention & is getting wonderful reviews! Overall rating on amazon is 4.6 on 5, which I believe is good. The readers are the ones impelling me to write more. Shortly we will be reprinting this book, which I have updated and redone with a new publisher. It will be released in paperback at a lower price point for much wider readership!
