At DICK’S, our teammates are the heart of our business, and we are committed to protecting their health and well-being. Today, the Supreme Court announced a decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, removing the federal right to an abortion and leaving the decision up to each state. While we do not know what decision each state will make in response to this ruling, we at DICK’S Sporting Goods are prepared to ensure that all of our teammates have consistent and safe access to the benefits we provide, regardless of the state in which they live. In response to today’s ruling, we are announcing that if a state one of our teammates lives in restricts access to abortion, DICK’S Sporting Goods will provide up to $4,000 in travel expense reimbursement to travel to the nearest location where that care is legally available. This benefit will be provided to any teammate, spouse or dependent enrolled in our medical plan, along with one support person. We recognize people feel passionately about this topic -- and that there are teammates and athletes who will not agree with this decision. However, we also recognize that decisions involving health and families are deeply personal and made with thoughtful consideration. We are making this decision so our teammates can access the same health care options, regardless of where they live, and choose what is best for them.

Again, our hearts are broken, as we feel the pain and sadness of the senseless tragedies in New York, Texas and so many other communities around the country. Our hearts are with all the families who are missing loved ones today. In Buffalo and Uvalde, the circumstances were different, but they had striking similarities. It’s reported that both mass murders were committed by 18-year-olds with AR-15s. At the Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, people were shopping for family dinners and graduation parties. Yesterday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, students and teachers were enjoying their last week of the school year. Grocery stores and elementary schools are woven into the fabric of every community in America. They must be safe places. In 2018, following the Parkland shooting, we made the decision to stop selling assault-style rifles and high-capacity magazines and to no longer sell firearms to anyone under 21 years of age. Then, and now, we implore our elected officials to enact common-sense gun reform that will save lives. We urge them to pass legislation that would: • Re-enact the Assault Weapons Ban that expired in 2004 • Ban high-capacity magazines and bump stocks • Prevent selling firearms to anyone under 21 years old • Require universal background checks that include relevant mental health information and previous interactions with the law • Ensure a complete universal database of those banned from buying firearms • Close the private sale and gun show loophole that waives the necessity of background checks The nation is demanding that our public officials take action. No other country in the world has anywhere near this much gun violence. We cannot become numb to this. We cannot accept what happened in Buffalo and Uvalde as if it’s normal. We cannot continue to let gun violence pointlessly end lives every day. Both sides of the aisle need to set aside their differences and come together with the intent to solve this problem. We cannot wait any longer. Our families and communities are paying too high a price. It's time for members of Congress to be brave enough to do their job.

At this year’s Store Manager Leadership Conference, we talked about Elevating Dreams. DICK’S Sporting Goods started as a dream of my father’s and it was incredible to celebrate how far we have come with so many wonderful teammates and leaders around the country. Thank you to all of our teammates who were a part of three meaningful and informative days. Let’s keep elevating our dreams together! #dsglife

Last week, we opened our first Public Lands store in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. This outdoor concept is one we’ve been thinking about for several years and it’s exciting to open it while so many people are enjoying the outdoors. I’m so proud of the team and that we’ll be supporting non-profit organizations that focus on conservation and access to the outdoors.

I am terribly saddened by the recent shootings in Boulder, Philadelphia and Atlanta. I send my deepest condolences to the families and friends of all the victims. Gun violence in America is a public health crisis, and it needs urgent attention. There are steps that can be taken now to strengthen background checks and help keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn’t have them. The House of Representatives passed two bills earlier this month that would stem the epidemic of gun violence and save lives. It’s now time for the members of Congress who have opposed common-sense gun legislation to have the courage to act. We all have a responsibility to keep our kids and communities safe.

Coming soon: DICK’S House of Sport! I was back in upstate New York last week, where our company first started, to see how we continue to build the future of sport. Our team has worked incredibly hard to create an interactive space where our athletes can find products they love, and try them out too. Our athletes are going to see and experience something they never have before and I can’t wait for the doors to open! #dsglife
