I don’t post that often and never about anything that’s not 100% work related…. but sometimes you have to step back and remember who you are and why you do what you do. Otherwise you can become a little too intense and it has been mentioned, so I’m guilty as charged🤦🏻‍♂️. Life for me has been at warp speed since lockdown ended and it was definitely mentally gruelling during the lockdowns. However, life does endure, the brave resist and what doesn’t kill you definitely makes you stronger. One thing that has endured, has never wained and always gets stronger is my friendship with Benjamin Nkromah Not to say I’m the only one caught on the wheel. Ben has also had a really tough time setting up a support program, during covid, to keep young people away from the attraction of street gangs. He teaches them how to produce a CV and interview well, showing many how they could become propriety traders and even getting them to let off steam with a few boxing classes🥊 We met at a north london junior school and hit it off immediately, staying top buddies for over 40 years, and we’re still going strong. No matter what direction our lives took we have always made the effort to meet and as we like to say. we always ‘had each other’s back’. We played football together, boxed at all the same clubs together, spent most of our early summer holidays at the local secondary school in a ‘play-scheme’ and when we weren’t there we ran riot on our estate as youngsters and then survived it’s volatility and dangers as young men. Yesterday we met for one of our long lunches and belly laughed at our yesteryear life stories. To be fair we could have talked for days!! Getting distracted from daily life is super important, especially when it involves remembering the fun (lack of stress, accountability and rules)of childhood. It has such a positive effect on your mental health and wellbeing. So make time to unwind, be human, be social, have friends. I’m fairly crap at this, hence the post and making myself accountable to more downtime.
