On Saturday January 19, our Nova team of colleagues and families joined forces for a #volunteer reforestation of the Holy Monastery of Penteli, Attica.  🌲 It was an amazing morning of camaraderie, fun and emotion, as our beautiful Penteli has been greatly affected by recent years’ wildfires, especially last year's. 🌲 This voluntarism initiative was the last stage of a large-scale reforestation of the Penteli Monastery region by Nova. 🌲 It follows the large-scale forest restoration projects at Dadia forest and Rhodes, and the kick-off of the “Smart Forest Rhodes” which will be employing AI and cutting-edge technology for Civil Protection.  🌲 All initiatives are realized in in close collaboration with the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the General Secretariat of Forests of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy. 🌿 Truly inspired by our kids’ dedication. On Friday November 29 we proudly started at Nova the  reforestation of the Penteli Monastery Area! ➡️ This initiative is part of Nova's corporate responsibility program for environmental restoration, disaster recovery and prevention through the use of technology. ➡️ The reforestation of 70 acres and 5,400 trees was attended by the Secretary General of Forests at the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy Stathis Stathopoulos; the Director General of Forests, Evangelos Gountoufas, the Abbot of Penteli Monastery, His Eminence Metropolitan Ioannis of Thermopylae; and Nova’s CEO, Panayotis Georgiopoulos. ➡️ At Nova, we have proudly undertaken the reforestation of the Penteli Monastery area in Attica, as part of our €1 million corporate responsibility program for environmental restoration, disaster recovery and prevention through the use of technology.   ➡️ This reforestation follows large-scale restoration projects in the Dadia National Park in Evros, the island of Rhodes, and the implementation of the "Smart Forest Rhodes" ICT project. Through it, we will revitalize the forest ecosystem surrounding the historically and religiously significant late-Byzantine era Penteli Monastery and the Inter-Orthodox Center of the Church of Greece, which is located within the Monastery’s premises. So proud of Nova’s 1 million euros relief program initiative, for the restoration and protection of areas of Greece that were affected by the wildfires and floods of 2023! During our recent visits to Rhodes island, ➡ on June 11 we handed over the major project of restoring fire-afflicted areas of Rhodes, to Evangelos Gountoufas, Head of the General Directorate of Forests and Forest Environment of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy and to the Dodecanese Forest Authorities, ➡ on July 9, our CEO Panayotis Georgiopoulos together with the Minister of Environment and Energy Thodoros Skylakakis announced our new major initiative, the development of “Smart Forest Rhodes” ICT project, using AI and cutting edge technology, for the protection of the Natura 2000 area “Butterflies”, in the presence of George Hatzimarkos, Alexandros Koliadis Municipality of Rhodes and Alexandros Bregiannis. Through Nova’s anti-erosion works (86 km of trunk lattices), the natural regeneration of  Rhodes forest areas and the protection of biodiversity are ensured, with the results at the ecosystem already becoming visible! #SDGs #forestrestoration #corporateresponsibility #AI
